I believe that everyone can feel happier and healthier… I am here to support you in making that happen!

In my experience, working with clients from 4 to 94 over the past 10 years -  these are the top 5 reasons people give me for wanting to lose weight, perhaps one of these will be similar to your reason? Understanding your reason “WHY?” you want to lose weight is really important, because if you want something badly enough, you are prepared to work at it!

1. Lack of energy

Being over weight createsa lack of energy, everything in our day to day lives becomes difficult: Work, family time, moving throughout the day, even sitting down in a chair and getting up can be an effort. This doesn’t have to be the case, a common response to tiredness is to rest, which is the opposite to what your body needs. I’ll help you to get moving, produce feel good hormones aka endorphins and burn energy.

2. Wanting more confidence / happiness

For my clients who are just beginning their weight loss journey, they feel that the world is looking at them and judging them because of their excess weight, this is a truly horrible experience and causes problem with self worth and esteem. I remember this myself!

Can you look back and pin point a nasty comment or stressor that caused you to use food for comfort? Losing weight can really help you to see yourself in a better light. Personal Training and improving your relationship with movement can also improve your confidence, independence and social skills. If your weight is stopping you from achieving the things you want in life, I can help!

3. The threat of chronic health conditions, obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes or pain

Many of the clients I have helped to lose weight are fearful of developing a chronic illness. Has high blood pressure or diabetes has effected a loved one? and you want to ensure that the same doesn’t happen to you? I get it! I lost my Father in 2006 due to poor heart health so this is certainly a motivator for me! “The risks of developing disease as a result of being overweight is much greater than first thought. In fact, obesity is believed to account for 80-85% of the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, while recent research suggests that obese people are up to 80 times more likely to develop type 2 diabetes than those with a bmi of 22 or less.” - diabetes.co.uk, January 2019. I have helped many diabetics and pre-diabetics, across Brighton and Sussex, to change their health, some is as little as six weeks (although every- body is different). 4. A life event- a wedding, retirement or sporting occasion

Many of my clients want to lose weight in preparation for a big event, some want to look good for their own Wedding or that of a relative of family friend, I’ve even worked with clients getting married for the second time (in one case, to the same person!). Many invest a huge amount in their careers and at retirement they see an opportunity to reduce stress and create a new lifestyle. In addition, I have experience in preparing clients for marathons, cycling events, and forces fitness tests.

5. A desire to return to health fitness after a break

Has the time come for you to lose weight and return to fitness after taking a break? This can be for a variety of reasons, including losing “baby weight” following an injury or just needing to focus on others things. May be the kids have gone of to university and now is the time to put YOU first.

I also have a top five of reasons why my clients think that previous diets or exercise plans simply haven’t worked…

1. Too strict

“Eating clean” is a phrase I hear from many clients, often this means grass fed meats and organic vegetables. “The 5:2 diet” meaning 5 days of eating well and 2 days of minimal energy consumption. Even the simpler “give up crisps and chocolate” can be too invasive to stick to. All diets start on Mondays and if you’ve given up by Wednesday, it’s too diificult. I have a better plan!

2. Too expensive

I have clients who have spent huge amounts of money on meal replacements, big brand companies who demand hundreds of pounds invested monthly. This soon becomes unsustainable and unless you continue to invest for life, you lose your results. I prefer to help you learn and form new habits which can be continued even when you aren’t working with me!

3. Too time consuming

Many of my clients work long hours, they want a programme which helps lose weight in a sustainable manner, without a huge investment of time or effort daily. Using the three pillars: Exercise, Diet and Mind I help you to habit form, this means that being healthy becomes automatic as a result of consistency. To read more about the Three Pillars CLICK HERE.

4. Lack of support / accountability

Do you feel like you have tried every diet known to man and failed? That may be because nobody supports you, allows you to ask specific questions or frequently asks “What have you done today, that supports your goal of weight loss?” My client’s find this question really helpful in tandem with “Specifically…. How can I support YOU better?” These types of questions are really important because each person that takes our weight loss programme is an individual and needs individual support!

5 Disappoinitng results

Have you invested time, effort and money? Been consistent? but really disappointed with the result? This is often the case with diet and movement plans. With my programmes, I help you to set appropriate goals, adhere to the programme and review progress, including measuring improvements in stress management, confidence and independence. This means that you are never disappointed.
